SEED DIXIE ANNOUNCES EMARKETING AWARD WINNERS
Monday, 03.04.2013, 07:16pm (GMT-6)

SEED Dixie has announced the winners of the eMarketing Award, amounting to over $10,000 awarded to Washington County businesses. SEED Dixie and USTAR are committed to creating high paying jobs in southwest Utah and will assist in coaching the winners.

Through SEED Dixie’s eMarketing Award, startup and existing enterprises were able to submit applications to win part of a $10,000 cash amount. The winners of the eMarketing Award are Cantina West, winning $4,000; Forte Strong with $3,000; StarMax Solar with $2,000; and Living the Student Life with $1,000.

eMarketing Award Winners:

Solar Cookers at Cantina West has been in business for almost five years, though it primarily existed as an Internet-based company until opening a storefront in St. George about three years ago. They are one of the largest suppliers of solar cookers in the United States and sell around the world. According to the Solar-Cookers-at-Cantina West website, using a solar cooker is healthier without the gas of a barbecue, smoke of a campfire, or radiation of a microwave on food. Only the natural power of the sun is used.

Forte Strong is a failure-to-launch program specifically designed to help young men gain the skills and confidence they need to achieve independence. Forte Strong focuses on six pillars to guide their students to successful living. These unique pillars offer a flexible yet structured curriculum for young men: Unlock Your Potential, Live in Balance, Knowledge is Power, United We Stand, Lead the Way, and Step By Step

StarMax Solar is an expert in "SOLAR THERMAL" heating water with the sun. About 30 percent of a household’s utility costs are to heat water for baths, showers, laundry, dishes, etc. StarMax Solar can convert any existing water heater or water heating system to solar. This retrofit can save thousands of dollars and help start a path to "energy independence." StarMax Solar’s patented system qualifies for tax credits, rebates and energy loans.

Living the Student Life, a Web site created by Tanner Holt, provides current students with a resource for trusted information. Its aim is to help students enjoy their college experience and live the best student life possible, with information including helpful tips on classes, activities, local info, dating ideas and a social marketing component. Funding will go to add needed resources to the Web site for basic functionality.

The eMarketing Award, sponsored by SEED Dixie, USTAR, the St. George Chamber of Commerce and Dixie State College, was established to provide Washington County businesses with the opportunity to stimulate their electronic marketing tactics. This award was funded by a successful businessperson who wishes to remain anonymous.
