It’s time again for the DOCUTAH screeners to assemble and
screen films, submitted for festival consideration. More than 400 documentary
films from around the world are expected to be submitted between now and the
submission deadline of May 15, 2013. Approximately 60 of those films will be
chosen to be screened during the DOCUTAH Film Festival, scheduled for Sept. 3-7,
2013.
Films began arriving shortly after the festival announced
the call for entries on Dec. 9, 2012. To date, more than 85 films have been
submitted and 60 have been received at Dixie State College.
“Dixie State College is pleased to present the film festival
and energized by the international and local interest,” said DSC Vice President
of Institutional Advancement and Festival Director Christina Schultz. “The film
selection process is an exciting time.”
DOCUTAH is looking for volunteer screeners from the
community to view and rate the film submissions. “If you enjoy watching
documentary films and can spend a few hours each week in the comfort of your
own home, with a few friends, then this is a task for you,” said DOCUTAH
Artistic Director Phil Tuckett.
The DOCUTAH Southern Utah International Documentary Film Festival
originated at Dixie State College in 2010. The event has been praised as one of
the nation’s best “Small-Town Documentary Film Festivals for 2012” by the
Public Broadcasting System (PBS). The 2013 festival dates are Sept. 3-7. It is
the mission of DOCUTAH to inspire a global connection through documentary films
and intellectual discussion. The festival offers academic credit to students
looking for additional credit hours. For more about DOCUTAH and the screening
teams, please visit www.docutah.com or e-mail
