An accident was narrowly averted on the corner of River Road and 100 South in St. George at around 8 a.m. this morning.
A tan Toyota Camry travelling westbound on 100 South attempted to make a right-hand turn at the red light when it nearly collided with a silver pickup truck, going south on River Road, said St. George Police Officer Mark Biehl.
"Fortunately, the driver of the pickup was able to react in time and slowed his vehicle when he saw the Camry turn out in front of him," said Biehl.
The driver of the Camry said she didn't even notice the truck.
"I was this close to beating my highest ever score on Bejeweled Blitz," said the driver, who asked not to be named. "But when that guy in the truck honked, it distracted me and I screwed up."
Officer Biehl said he was confused as to why the media had contacted him about the incident.
"Um, I just happened to be stopped at the intersection when it happened. I wasn't even on duty at the time," said Biehl. "I mean, there was no accident. I'm not even sure why you called me. Is this what passes for news in this town?"
There were no damages to either vehicles and nobody was injured in the near fender-bender.
